What does the DDoS protection sensitivity do?

Support Article

The protection sensitivity option give you an extra level of control when it comes to our DDoS mitigation.

By changing the sensitivity option to a higher or lower value will scale the detection thresholds higher or lower depending on what you choose.

If you choose a higher than normal sensitivity option it will lower the detection thresholds, and if you select an option lower than normal it will increase the detection thresholds.

Here is a quick breakdown for the detection thresholds;

Sensitivity Level Description
Low Starts mitigating traffic floods from around ~100Kpps
Normal Starts mitigating traffic floods from around ~50Kpps
Medium Starts mitigating traffic floods from around ~25Kpps
High Starts mitigating traffic floods from as little as 2.5Kpps

We suggest the use of High sensitivity for protecting Valve source engine based games including, but not limited to Garry's Mod, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2 etc, as well as VoIP style applications such as Teamspeak, Ventrilo and Mumble. This may not work for everyone, so we ask that you try out the different sensitivity levels yourself to see what works best for your server and it's own specific setup.

If you have any more questions relating to this, don't hesitate to contact our support team by opening a support ticket.
